Domiciliary Care

Benefits of Biodose in Domiciliary Care:

• The world’s first Total Medication Management System (Tomms)
• The only system capable of dealing with solid oral and liquid medications*.
• Individually sealed and individually removable tamper-evident pods.
• 28-pod trays with drug and patient information printed on EVERY pod.
• Aids patient compliance and provides maximum accountability.
• Built in Biocote protection – helps prevent MRSA.

Lack of patient compliance in the community is a major contributor to hospital admission. The Biodose system provided by Tomms Pharmacy is the ideal solution for monitoring administration and compliance in the community setting.

Biodose is the first system able to handle solid oral tablets and capsules together with liquid medications. In the domiciliary care setting this presents a number of new opportunities and additional safeguards, especially where a number on different carers are involved with treating patients with learning difficulties, arthritis, dysphasia, dementia or complicating disabilities.

The ability to administer monitored doses of liquid medications in the domiciliary care setting assists with patient compliance and accountability. The Biodose system sealed trays contain patient and drug identification information and because each Pod within the tray can be individually removed, they are labelled with patient name, date, time of day and individual drug details of pharmaceutical preparations contained within each Pod.

The individual medicine Pods contain a tamper-evident liquid-tight seal providing security for the patient and ensuring that liquid doses remain intact and unadulterated prior to opening.

The medicine Pods are designed in such a way to be ergonomic, with easy-remove seals and are intended to be used instead of medicine cups or spoons, making the whole process quick, clean and simple.

Furthermore because the Biodose system provided by Tomms Pharmacy contains Biocote protection this helps prevent MRSA, important in treating patients at risk of infection.

Tomms Pharmacy can supply Medication Administration Record charts and Patient Information Sheets where necessary, to further assist in helping carers provide a higher standard of medication management in domiciliary care.
